The label on a bottle of wine and its cork give you valuable information about its contents. For this reason, it is important to know how to decipher it in order to choose the best rosé wine without having tasted it.

Here is some advice from Château Léoube to help you choose the best vintage. The 6 main elements to identify are

– the grape variety: this indicates the type of grapes used.

– the appellation: this reveals the region in which the grapes are grown. Whenever possible, choose an AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) wine.

– the region: this criterion allows you to know the production area of the wine in order to better imagine the flavours it contains. These flavours depend in particular on the type of soil and climate, as well as the proximity of the vines to the sea or ocean, a pine forest…

– the producer: whether he is a recent independent winemaker or a huge winery with several centuries of experience, his name is displayed on the bottle. This information allows you to research the wine’s production method and history.

– the vintage: the year of the grape harvest gives precious clues to the quality of the wine in question, which is intrinsically linked to the weather conditions. In Provence, the fairly stable climate has little impact on the quality of the vintage compared to other wine regions in France.
